Roof Repair & Leak Repairs in Trinidad
A small leak in the rainy season turns into a stained ceiling, rotten wood and mould by the next one. We'll connect you with a local roofer who finds where the water is actually getting in, which is often not right above the drip, and fixes it properly.

Roof Repair & Leaks
Roof problems we arrange repairs for
- Drips or stains on the ceiling after rain
- Loose, rusted or missing screws and washers
- Cracked or lifted flashing where the roof meets a wall
- Damaged ridge cap along the top of the roof
- Single rusted or holed sheets
- Storm damage: lifted or blown-off sheets

The leak is rarely right above the stain
Water runs along sheets and rafters before it drips. A stain in the bedroom can start at a screw several feet away. That's why the roofer should look underneath as well as on top.
How a leak repair usually runs
Tell us where you see water and when: every rain, or only heavy rain with wind.
The roofer inspects on top and underneath to trace the water back to where it gets in.
You get a written quote for the repair, plus anything else they noticed.
The fix: screws replaced, flashing resealed, or damaged sheets swapped out.
Check after the next heavy rain. A good roofer comes back if the leak isn't gone.

Where is your roof leaking?
Most roof leaks start in one of five places. Tap each one to see the signs and the usual fix.
Screws & washers
The most common leak. Rubber washers crack in the sun and screws loosen as the roof heats and cools.
- Drips in lines along the ceiling
- Fixed by replacing screws and washers
- One of the cheapest roof repairs
Ridge cap
The cap along the top covers the gap between the two slopes. If it's loose or badly sealed, wind drives rain in.
- Leaks near the middle of the house
- Often only in wind and heavy rain
- Fixed by refixing and sealing the cap
Flashing at walls
Where the roof meets a wall, chimney or a higher roof, flashing covers the joint. When it cracks or lifts, water runs down the wall.
- Stains where the ceiling meets the wall
- Common where an extension joins the house
- Fixed by resealing or replacing flashing
Rusted sheets
Once rust goes through the sheet there's a hole, and no amount of paint will seal it.
- Drips in one spot, getting worse
- Visible rust holes from on top
- Fixed by replacing the sheet
Gutters & edge
Blocked or sagging gutters overflow back under the sheets and into the fascia and walls.
- Water on outside walls and under the eaves
- Rotting fascia boards
- Fixed by clearing, re-hanging or replacing gutters

Repair or replace your roof?
Three quick questions and you'll get a likely answer and a checklist to take to a roofer.
Repair should do it
A general guide, not a substitute for an inspection. A roofer needs to see the roof, on top and underneath, to say for sure.

Questions
Roof Repair & Leaks: common questions
How much does a roof repair cost?
Small jobs like replacing screws or resealing flashing cost far less than replacing sheets. The roofer will quote after seeing the roof. Ask for the price in writing before work starts.
Can you fix a leak during the rainy season?
Yes, between showers. Roofers won't work on a wet roof for safety, but most leak repairs are quick once there's a dry window.
Should I just put sealant on it?
Sealant can stop a drip for a while, but if the screw is loose or the sheet is rusted through it will leak again. Fixing the cause lasts longer.
My roof leaks only in heavy wind and rain. Why?
Wind-driven rain gets in under ridge caps, flashing and lapped sheets that are fine in normal rain. Tell the roofer it happens with wind, so they check those spots.
